Another brush-n-ink illo from the the early 80's...Pentel Brush Pen, loaded up with real live india ink, brushed onto thick tracing vellum, then overcovered with fiddly bits of real live no-tech Zipatone! Stone age methodology, but fun!
This was a mockup of a book cover done for one of Byron Preiss' book series, cobbled together using a photocopier, gouache, markers, colored pencils, plus a few random bits of glue and baling wire...ah, the days before computer...
Another element from the Dragon Boy set of illustration done for educational publishing...a few of the images showed the story, but many of them were part of a workbook for kids, hence were decorative elements integrated with text and other page components, such as this one.
